After 3 months of swimming lessons at Tricks, Esmerelda was still reluctant to put her face in the water. We continued going to swim lessons each week. And each week she would tell me that she was "concerned" and did not want to do a "face dip." So we would say a prayer in the car and ask God to help her be brave and willing to try new things. Well she finally had a break through! After playing in a friend's pool for a week she decided that she was now o.k. with putting her nose and then her eyes under water. She couldn't wait to show her teacher Mr. Matthew her new moves. Below is the day that she previewed them for him. She was very proud of herself and so were we!

You can't see her because she's under the water :)

She came up smiling instead of crying - a sign of progress.

Mr. Matthew was as excited as we were after patiently working with her for months.

I love your blog! Something I've wanted to start, but haven't taken the time yet. Tell Esmerelda "great job!" from us for going underwater. Alex is dealing with the same fear this week in swim lessons. He had to
put his face underwater on his first day, and was a bit shaken up!I'll have to show him the pics of Esmerelda and maybe it will help him. :)
