The love(s) of his life

Joseph has been in love many times already, despite the fact that he is only two. His first and true love began the moment they met. To this day when you mention his beloved "horsie" he gets giddy and giggles with glee. His horsie is the green guy to the left, and, thanks to my good friend Michele, is his inseparable bedtime friend. Next came Thomas the train. Of course it couldn't have been the little wooden train, instead when we found the big Thomas at the thrift store for a dollar, he fell in love and toted that thing, which is half his size, all through the store and into the car. For months he dragged it around the house until I finally had enough of the bangs and bruises all over the walls and furniture. It is now semi-retired to his room. At Easter I put a little Lightening McQueen car lollipop in his basket. He was so excited he threw out the lollipop and has been carrying around the plastic McQueen lollipop holder ever since. He now has quite a ritual before nap and bedtime of carefully placing McQueen in a specific spot on his table making sure that it faces him so that he can smile at him when he wakes up. The latest love was very unexpected - an inflatable red fish! We blew up some of our pool toys at the start of summer and at our visit to a friend's pool the fish came with us. Joseph was reluctant to get in the pool and clung to the nearest thing to him - the red fish. Since then, fish has been a new addition to the bed, the couch for movies, the dinner table and every car ride. Fortunately, even with all of his loves, Mommy is still at the top of his list :)
